Type a recognizable name for your virtual port (e.g., DAW_In or Synth_Bridge ).
If loopMIDI detects that data sent out of a port is immediately returning to the exact same port, it will freeze the port to protect your PC from a crash. The data throughput counter will turn red, and the port will show as "muted."
Leave the “MIDI Clock” and “Activate port as startup” boxes checked unless you have a specific reason not to.
Unfortunately, the update inadvertently broke compatibility with many existing virtual MIDI utilities, including loopMIDI. loopMIDI was designed for the original MIDI 1.0 architecture, and the new driver stack prevented it from functioning correctly.
Windows 11 introduced better MIDI timing, but some system processes can interfere. Try:
A physical MIDI cable connects the hardware output of one device (like a keyboard) to the hardware input of another (like a synthesizer module). loopMIDI does exactly the same thing, but entirely in software.
The new port will instantly appear in the port list above. Windows 11 will immediately recognize this port globally across all running audio applications. Deleting a Port
Some users have switched to LoopBe1 as an alternative for better stability on newer Win11 builds.
Click the button. The new port appears instantly in the upper list. How to Delete a Port Select the port you wish to remove from the list.
LoopBe30 provides up to 30 independent virtual cables, making it suitable for complex routing configurations. LoopBe1 offers a single-cable solution for simpler needs.
